Claremont Hotel to be back in time for summer

The highly-anticipated reopening of The Claremont Hotel is set for summer.

Claremont Council this week gave the nod to re-jigged plans submitted by new Melbourne-based lessee Australian Venue Company for the hotel’s long-awaited revamp.

The 1905-built hotel has been shut since last April when the first COVID-19 lockdown put owner Barry Jones’ initial $6.4 million approved plans for renovations on hold.

The amended plans are for a rooftop bar, demolition of the bottle shop, additional bar space and more toilets.
