Mandatory jabs likely for WA quarantine staff amid low vaccination rates



Quarantine workers will have to get the Pfizer jab or be refused work under a mandatory vaccination plan by the McGowan government to reduce the risk of the virus escaping one of Western Australia’s COVID-19 hotels.

The rules, which are expected to be implemented over the next fortnight, will be similar to existing rules that require aged care workers to get flu vaccinations before taking on jobs in nursing homes.

WA Premier Mark McGowan said the latest figures showed 65 per cent of hotel quarantine workers had at least their first jab but that number dropped to 40 per cent when it came to security guards.
